Hi, I’m Chris
Satterthwaite.
A web developer, artist and lifelong creator with a love for animation, storytelling and building things for the web.
I grew up in Vernon, BC, and I’ve been interested in art for about as long as I can remember. What started with drawing comics and making silly parody strips with friends eventually led to animation, games, teaching, and a career in web development.

My Journey
A (mostly) linear timeline ↗
Early Days
Comics & Storytelling
Drew comics, created parody strips (Star Trek, X-Files, Sliders, Star Wars) and discovered I loved mixing art and writing.
1997
Animation School
Received a scholarship to the Gulf Island Film School and was properly introduced to animation.
UBC / VFS
Further Studies
Studied 2D and 3D animation at UBC under Ray Bailey, then attended Vancouver Film School, graduating in 2001 and interning at a game studio.
2002
A New Direction
Returned to Vernon and joined a web development company, not knowing it would become such a big part of my life. It let me stay creative while also getting into the code.
2003 / 2010
Teaching
Taught web and game design at the Centre for Arts and Technology in 2003, and returned in 2010 to teach introductory web development.

Moved to Kelowna in 2005, became a Senior Developer in 2006, and worked on a wide mix of projects including WordPress themes, SEO plugins, custom websites and larger applications.
Tourism Projects
BC Tourism Work
Moved into project management and worked on projects for Kootenay Rockies Tourism, Tourism Kelowna and other tourism initiatives in BC.

Today
Still Creating
After 20+ years in web design and development, I’m still learning, experimenting and building new things. I still draw.
What I Do
I work at the intersection of creativity and technology, building websites, WordPress tools and custom systems, while still keeping the creative side alive.

A Creative Journey
That Kept Evolving.
I never really planned to be a web developer.
I just liked making things, and I’m still doing it.
